Traditional MSW Program Fast Facts

  • Clinically focused to qualify students for social work licensure
  • Program includes two social work field placements
  • 61 credit hours
  • Pace: two courses per semester online
  • Courses are 16 weeks; summer may have 12- or 13-week courses, depending on the year
  • Average completion time: Three years
  • Two mandatory weekends on campus for skill-building sessions (usually second and third semesters)

Admission Requirements At-a-Glance

  • You have baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • You reside in a state within the accepted coverage areas
  • Prepare for and take the GRE - FSU’s code is 5219
  • You have a 3.0 GPA or better on everything past the first 60 hours of undergraduate courses (upper-division GPA), or you must have earned a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution

As an online MSW student, you’ll participate in social work field placements that will qualify you to pursue a license in clinical social work upon graduation. Both our Advanced Standing and Traditional online Master of Social Work programs are clinically-focused so you’ll get the real-world experience you need to be career-ready. Our social work programs are part-time to accommodate busy working professionals.
