Florida State University Master of Social Work Faculty Describe the Program in Their Own Words

We interviewed the Dean of Academic Affairs and members of the Faculty of Florida State University’s College of Social Work recently and had a glimpse into their opinions about what makes FSU stand out. Listen to faculty members describe their ideas about what makes the online MSW program at FSU unique, how important it is to have thoughtful professionals who can be called on by people in need, and how social workers have the capacity to address all of the major social issues at hand. Here are a few things that they said:

Faculty That Helps Students Be Successful

“Working with clients who are vulnerable is a big job, and you have to be prepared to do it - and I think everyone who teaches here has done that work, so they understand it. They know what they need to do to help the students be successful.”

-Fran Gomory, M.S.W., Director of the M.S.W. Program, Associate Teaching Professor

Opportunities Provided by Online Education

“Online education and the way it’s permeated the educational landscape across the United States has provided opportunities to students to have a lot of selection in terms of where they might want to attend school.”

-Craig Stanley, Ph.D., Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, College of Social Work, Florida State University

What Online Study Means

“Online does not mean distant, hands-off and not engaged.”

-Carol Campbell Edwards, M.S.W., Assistant Teaching Professor

The Passion Behind the Teaching
